Samsung's connected fridge is advancing the smart home

The tech industry has heralded the concept of a "smart home" as the next big thing, and in many ways it's already here. You can tell Siri to draw the blinds, open the garage door or even turn off the Christmas lights via products that work with Apple's HomeKit platform. And yes, you can see what's inside your fridge now, thanks to Samsung.

But the issue, among many here, is that consumers aren't yet clamoring to bring these products into their home to replace what they already have. After all, the incentive to do so is relatively low: Blinds and refrigerators don't need replacing every few years like a smartphone.
